Democrats…Thy Name Is Cannibal
I’m going to start off with this: John McCain has an uphill battle come this fall. He has to answer questions regarding, what most people perceive, as an unpopular war, a declining economy, and the fact that he’s a Republican, but this article regarding the Democratic race is interesting. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/campaign_divided_democrats
My initial reaction to this article was, “Wow, this is great for McCain, just wait until the general election!!!!” As happy as I would be if that were actually true, but unfortunately it’s not, but it did get me thinking. The article quotes poll after poll stating that the voters of Clinton are increasing disliking Obama and vice versa. We also see quotes and history stating that the “family” (sounds Godfatheresque, appropriately so), after a nominee is selected, will come together for the general election, which I believe WILL happen (sort of).
I’m not going to sit here, with my elephant glasses on and think that all of the Clinton or Obama supporters, because their person didn’t win, jump over to support McCain, but there will be a ripple effect to this intra-party war. The first will be, that a small percentage of those disgruntled Democrats will in fact vote for McCain, two, there will be those angry, embittered Democrats that will just sit out to “protest” the other candidate winning the nomination (making the vote for McCain that much more effective). Here’s the kicker and larger, more interesting question regarding this battle; how is the independent, undecided citizen going to vote? If the hard core Democratic supporters are disenfranchised, how do you think the casual voter feels? My hope as a McCain supporter (I can’t believe I just said that) is that Hillary and Barak do what’s best for THEM and keep punching – AT EACH OTHER, so come this November one or the other is staring at McCain, on TV giving his acceptance speech, and asking themselves “How could this have ever happened?”
Jeremiah Wright, Thanks For Clarifying….
Jeremiah Wright (I refuse to call him Reverend, as he is, in my estimation, NOT doing God’s work) is at it again.

The man criticizes the United States, indicates that we (citizens of the United States) have reaped what we sowed, and has all but admitted he hates the U.S., and he has the audacity to tell me that the criticism he is getting is based on “attacks on the black church”? I’d ask if he was joking, but I know better. He goes onto say that black church traditions are still “invisible” too many Americans, as they have been throughout the country’s history. What? It’s perfectly acceptable in a church setting, a house of God, to speak in such unbelievably ignorant, hateful speech? I’m a Christian, and a God fearing person, and regardless of my political beliefs, do not believe that standing on the pulpit on Sunday is the appropriate time or place for such rhetoric. Call me crazy, but I thought Christians, regardless of color, go to church to learn, celebrate, and praise their Lord, not bash white America and our government. I don’t remember going to church in the 90’s and having my pastor, while preaching from the pulpit, rail on Bill Clinton, or Jesse Jackson’s moral ambiguity.
More specifically what does Wright mean by “black traditions”? Is it normal for hateful, non-Christian sermons to come from black preachers? Is he speaking for all black churches? Is he a fair representative of black preachers and black people’s thoughts? I hope the answer to all of those questions is, NO! His rhetoric shows little difference than the imams and clerics who preach anti-western, anti-American speech, instead of positive, peaceful discussions within their religion. Unfortunately if the answer to any of those questions is yes, I feel sorry for those that attend such churches, and suggest that they abandon that congregation, and attend a church that understands that the bible and the people that preach from it are servants of God, not insighters of hatred.
Who’s in 2nd place (and not in the party you think)?
Quick comment here…..answer this question, who’s in 2nd place in the REPUBLICAN PARTY? At first thought, you’d say “nobody, why the H*LL are you even asking?”, but there is in fact another person still in the Republican race for President. The sad thing is, he has the same chance of winning the nomination for Republican nominee now as he did in July of 2007 – NONE. What’s even more sad is people are still giving him money.
Who am I referring to? Ron Paul, the crazy representative from Texas. The man who believes that the bombings on the WTC was a government conspiracy, and the man that is still in the race although he only has 14 pledged delegates (you need 1191 to win and McCain has over 1200) as of today (hey Ron, the convention is this summer). Here’s some quality advice for you Ron Paul disciples, do yourself a favor; save your money, have your family and friends take to you a Red Roof Inn and have an intervention, and start living in the real world, you’ll thank me for it.
Current Pennsylvania stats: John McCain 72% – Ron Paul 16%
Racial “Views”
I recently read an article on the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel titled ‘Rap controversy could spark needed debate’ dated 4/20/08, and it peaked my curiosity. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=741116 I am learning, as time goes by; to read and listen to opinions and views that might not necessarily “fit” my experiences or background, so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to test that out. What I found out was I’m glad I read this article because I realized I was right, AGAIN.
The basic premise of Mr. Blanks article was not necessarily to report on Alicia Keys’, (a young, respected R&B artist) decision to throw her hat into the political realm in Blender magazine by saying — that she thought that gangsta rap was a ploy of our government “to convince black people to kill each other.” or that – the U.S. government and media were behind the murders of hip-hop legends Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., in her words, “to stop another great black leader from existing.” – No, he wanted to use those opinions to make a larger point(s), that being, and to quote him “sometimes you have to say things that may sound a little “out there” because a love song just won’t do.”. That and to create dialogue on how black people feel about the government and to “shock the system”.
He says that Alicia Keys doesn’t believe the government created gangsta rap to kill black people. Really, she doesn’t? What makes him think that? Yes, normal people would look at the statements Ms. Keys made and HAVE to believe that nobody could be that stupid, but the fact remains that she DID say them, and then followed up the original comment with the Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. take. I don’t give people that much leeway when it comes to inflammatory, STUPID comments, and neither should he.
By the way, here’s a new flash everyone (black, white, Latino, Asian, whatever); the government screws EVERYONE. They’re politicians! They do what’s in their best interest. If you look to the government for anything sans the military, public transportation, and public education, you’re looking at the wrong entity. The government did not make gangsta rap (have you seen the House of Representatives & Senate….old white guys that don’t even know WHAT gangsta rap is much less promote it?), or instruct the CIA to funnel drugs into the inner-city, so you can stop with the paranoia and start solving the problems.
My advice to Ms Keys’ and Mr. Blanks, when you open your mouth, or comment on issues such as this, make sense. Don’t sound like a nut-job. Don’t use J. Edgar Hoover as part of your racial argument (he’s been dead and politically irrelevant for decades). Those tactics make you look stupid, petty and crazy; all attributes that will make your opinions worthless, which they are.
